The most common questions about web site design almost always revolve around key word and key phrase optimization, although there are still quite a few questions that get repeated outside the realm of key word optimization, such as Flash and graphic tags, as well as hosting and linking solution questions.

But the overwhelming majority of internet web masters focus an inordinate amount of effort on proper key word and key phrase placement, mainly due to the fact that it is a difficult and constantly changing art form. Keeping up with the changes to search engines like Google is an ongoing struggle for nearly every web master on the internet, and before building any type of web site the web master should pay close attention to key word and key phrase density and frequency.

Choosing key words and phrases is actually a relatively straight forward process, providing that the web master is settled on a particular niche. Some of the more successful small sites on the web focus on a very specifically defined niche and exploit key words and phrases that have minimal competition from advertisers. It is important in this respect to choose a rotating list of key phrases that are relevant to the content on your site and are searched on Google and other major search engines with a relatively high frequency. It wouldn’t be prudent to use search phrases that are never searched, after all, so choose your key phrases wisely and build the content of the site around them.

Addressing another frequently asked question; How to add graphics and video to the web site pages. When adding graphics to your site, you will require a suitable host for the graphical content, any of the image hosting services will suffice, so long as they allow you to hot link the image. The image hosting service will produce a code for the image link for the web master to use. Copy the complete code and insert the URL of the image into the HTML code of your web site using the image source code.

Most web hosting services or web authoring software will allow the web master to perform these tasks in a wysiwyg environment, in the event the web master isn’t proficient at HTML. The code that is inserted into the web page performs the task of pointing the way to the source of the image on the image hosting server. Keep in mind that should the image hosting site shut down for any reason, your images will go unseen until the site restarts, or the web master changes to a different image hosting solution. Inserting video into the HTML code is not any more difficult, as video hosting services such as Free IQ and YouTube allow the user to play video right on the external site, via a small snippet of code.

When installing images and videos to the web master’s site, change the names of the images to a descriptive key word or phrase that is relevant to the key words and phrases on the web site that it appears on. This will improve the key word and key phrase relevance of your web site, and attract more attention from the search engines as well as the internet at large. Continue optimizing the key word and key phrase density and frequency of your web site indefinitely, as continuous maintenance is required for any successful web site.
